Projecting textures

I'm still Trying to self study on how to image texture effectively in Sketchup. What I did here was create a basic model shape, then set it in 3 different views on one plane, put it in parallel projection camera(not perspective), then exported it to a 2d image. So basically I had a 2 dimensional drawing with 3 views of the model- the front side back. I edited the 2d drawing in photoshop putting in the photo textures onto the front, side and back view drawings. When I was satisfied with the colored 2d drawing, I applied it as projected textures onto the model. A bit tedious, but I think it came out pretty well. Watcha think?

3d humanoids

I'm trying my hands on humanoid modeling...Just realized how useful it is to know how to UV map because I don't know how to. I want to know how to create seamless textures applied on complex shaped polygons in the simplest possible way. I only know how to use projected textures in sketchup which is the next best thing, but it too, has its limitations. Any suggestions?

X-35 Joint Strike Fighter

Dug up this old design from my old file heap and decided to complete it. I designed this from more than three years ago. Photos here are of a test build printed on metallic paper.

This model is simple enough, around 7" long when completed and has its own display stand. the kit has only 3 pages- 2 pages parts, 1 page line instructions. Go to the free models page and scroll down to the bottom page to get it.

PROGRESS!

Finally made some progress...
Added all the glue tabs(manually added in CAD) and basic renderings (Photoshop shades and shadows). I did not add any markings or additional details. (2.5 hours)

Next to be added are part labels and instructions (Ugh!) but will build this one first soon

STONED

I was rushed to the emergency room last dawn because  of my little kidney stones. Probably blocked my urinal passage again. The pain was excruciating! as in "just kill me now" excruciating! by the time the sun was up, the pain somewhat diminished. Spent the whole seeking medical treatment and by evening almost back to normal and was peeing like a fountain. Good thing the whole ordeal didn't last long. What a day...wasted so much time because of it. But I was also reminded to take better care of my body and to eat and drink more healthily. Life is short. It would suck to die because of self inflicted poor health.

Quickie Sub-orbital Shuttle

Here is a quickie boxy 3d model of a of a sub-orbital shuttle. Designed it in about 2 hours in sketch-up.
(with rocket boosters)                               (without rocket boosters)

I'm trying to know how fast I can design a paper model from this.

Modular Mech Bot

The 9th anual Philippine toy convention was held last June 19-20th, 2010. I participated in the toy design contest and I'm glad to share that won 2nd place! I entered an old paper model design of mine which I just recently updated for the contest. Here is a few photos of my entry:

This is a combiner toy of four multi-combining machine droids:
Of which can form different machines with each other
This Toy was based on this old model
see the whole containing album folder here.  Or view my Flickr album.
oh, and by the way, there were only three participant in the toy design category- sad to say. hehehe. I'l be better prepared for next year.

I Blog!

Today is officially the first day I start blogging. . I've practiced for a few hours already working out the features and controls and I think I'm ready enough to run a web- log- website. So here I go.

Just saw Toy Story 3 a few hours ago. It was quite entertaining and touching. Almost cried at the end part but didn't - thank goodness.
